4th Future of the Industry Conference Underscores Business Cases, Incentives for Natural Refrigerant Technologies

May 15, 2024, Taguig City – the fourth CCI-Hub Future of the Industry Conference highlighted two important aspects for increasing investments on natural refrigerant technologies: business cases and incentives.

Held at the Tandang Sora Hall, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Complex, 

the event featured key messages from Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary Jonas Leones, National Institute for Technical Education and Skills Development (NITESD) executive Director David Bugallon delivered by Ms. Jacqueline Jamillah Ali and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Country Representative Teddy Monroy. It also covered issues such as financing, incentives, business cases through the demo projects’ initial results, and global policy and market trends for natural refrigerant cold chain technologies.

Ms. Laurie B. Navarro from the Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) started off the program by presenting Financing for Sustainable Cold Chain Technologies, followed by a session on incentives available for energy efficient and climate-friendly cold chain technologies presented by Ms. Marry Rose Maniebo-Vegas, Senior Investment Specialist and Sectoral Champion for the Cold Chain Industry from the Boards of Investments (BOI) and a video presentation by Director Patrick Aquino of the Energy Utilization Management Bureau (EUMB).

In the afternoon, presentations on the Demo Projects were made by Ms. Gilda Garibay for the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, Mr. Ian Jasper Evangelista of Glacier Panay Refrigeration Services Corp., Mayor Siegfredo A. Betita Municipality of Carles (Ilo-ilo) and Engr. Russel Terbio of Camp Backpackers Palawan.

Global policy and market trends that accelerate the demand for natural refrigerant technologies were also presented by Mr. Jan Dusek, Co-founder, Group COO & Head of APAC.

A Tech Expo Tour at the CCI-Hub was conducted to cap off the event.

“Today… we have the chance to reimagine the cold chain industry then shift its gears steering towards a future where sustainability and profitability will go hand-in-hand, which in due course, transforms it into a cornerstone of both food security and environmental resilience of our country”, said DENR Undersecretary Jonas Leones in his key message.
